Despite spending a third of our lives sleeping, there are plenty of us who don’t give sleep that much thought – unless we aren’t getting enough of it. And while general sleepiness, fatigue and brain fogginess are obvious symptoms of a poor night’s sleep, there are other signs of sleep problems that are often overlooked. If you regularly experience neck or back pain, wake up feeling stiff or sore, or are experiencing morning headaches despite sleeping through the night, it might be time to look at your sleeping position and the pillow you’re using.
Everyone has their instinctive, go-to sleeping position, and each of these requires different ergonomic requirements to provide your neck and head with the correct support. Our favourite sleeping position (or positions) can also reveal interesting information about our personality types and who we are. After all, the way that we sleep is something that is in-built and comes naturally to us rather than being something we consciously choose.
